Windy Day in Monterey

We had the perfect backdrop; greenery, ocean waters, hills, a blanket of overcast sky creating beautiful, soft, white light.

But the wind was ferocious and took vengeance upon us for an unknown cause.

Monterey- Day 1

So, I'm finally posting outfit pics. Here we are in front of our charming little hotel in...
 Monterey Bay!
The hubs has a four day basketball tournament here so I brought my sister, Sam, along to keep me company and help with the kiddos. They are napping right now and we are having fun with my third child, "Baby Nikon."

We went to the aquarium today. I saw sharks. It was awesome. Harper learned to say fish. But it sounds like he's saying "sh**." We'll work on that.

Me:
Cardigan, Old Navy. Belt, Forever21. Plaid Button-up, Target. Jeans, American Eagle. Boots, Forever 21.
Sam:

Kali's Closet

Yeah, right.

I wanted to be cool like Elaine and show you guys my closet. It's really small. Our bedroom has a Master's closet and a teensy-tiny one. Hubs got the Master's because he has about 50 times more clothes than I do. He also has over 120 pairs of shoes. They take up way too much space, so I have taken it upon myself to be an example to him, by being a minimalist. Although, he has taught me a lot about shopping.

I was one of those shoppers who bought anything, if it was a "good deal". I'd head straight for the clearance racks in every store. I can't tell you how many times I've bought something, just because it was super cheap, and then I'd hardly wear it. I fell in love with the price tag, not the item. Anthony is a quality buyer. And I'm getting there, too. Quality over quantity. You don't need a lot of clothes to come up with a great outfit.

What's in your closet?

 sweaters. hats. pjs. jeans.
dresses. skirts. long sleeves. short sleeves. tanks. belts.

shoes.
closet gnome.

Fame and Fashion

Before
After
It's amazing what fame can do.
(Okay, I guess it didn't do much for Mr. Radcliffe)
Totally thought it was Ratcliff, until I googled it just now.
Tell me:
What do you think of her pixie cut?

I want it.
But
I don't think I'm brave enough.

Smokin' Hot Deal @ American Eagle Outfitters!

A week after my 17th birthday, I moved to California to start college. First priority was to get a job. I interviewed all over town with the thought that nothing was beneath me. I even picked up an app at Mcdonald's. Eww. After a few weeks, I finally landed my dream job at American Eagle Outfitters! I literally jumped for joy, and almost screamed out loud after the manager said the job was mine. He was probably thinking what a wierdo. Why did I hire this spaz?

Anyway, it was really fun until that manager, who I adored, left for bigger opportunities, and his replacement was a pot smoking 40 something. Ugh.

Realizing I could make 10 times more as a waitress, I left too. But I still love the clothes! AE jeans are the only jeans I buy. AE caters to the trendy and those who love the classics; polos, cardigans, and button-ups.

Now on to this Smokin' Hot Deal (but not pot smokin' hot...gross).
PLUS, all sweaters are buy one, get one 50% off.
PLUS, you can use coupon code 12432896 to get an additional 20% off your purchase!

Top Knot

The top knot has been spotted all over Fall runways and sitting gorgeously atop celeb heads. About a week ago, I thought maybe I'd try it out. I came out of the powder room after about 239,047 hours, and asked my husband what he thought. We don't have to worry about Anthony lying, even for the sake of feelings. He'll always tell it to you straight.

"You look weird."

Thanks babe, I really do appreciate the honesty. And there went the bun.
Bare in mind, I suck at hair. I can do makeup, I can do fashion, but I'm the girl who blow dries and straightens her hair day after day, because you can't go too wrong with that. It's safe.
But what if I don't want to be safe anymore? Isn't that what fashion is all about? Pushing boundaries?

So, today after watching Sydney's tutorial on her blog, Daybook, I decided to give it a go. My bun turned out much better this time around, and it only took like five minutes. Thank you, Sydney.
What do you think?
Does it look like I have two heads?
Could I wear it in public?
Or should I just stick to feeling this glamourous while washing the dishes?

Faux Fur Fabulous

Faux fur is so fun. I would suggest one piece at a time though. That's enough to dress up your outfit and not over do it. Here are some of my favorites, all of which are pretty affordable.

Ciao, and stay fab. (:

What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner

What to wear on this special day depends on how casual or dressy your family's get togethers typically are. Please note, I did not include skinny jeans in either of these looks, or jeans at all for that matter. I don't care how great you look in your jeans on Thanksgiving morning, you will not look cute at 6pm when they're unzipped and your muffin top is exposed.
Dressy
This dress is oh-so-comfy. Trust me, I bought one in an alternate color just yesterday. But I love, love this color because you can wear mustard tights with it! And, mustard is so hot right now.
casual
I love yoga pants. I wish I could wear them everyday. Paired with one of these cute striped sweaters, you can be super comfy, and still look amazing for all those family photos that will inevitably be taken.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and remember... Stay fabulous!

Family Photo Inspiration Guide

Family Photo
It's that time of year again. Thanksgiving is around the corner, and after that, greeting cards need to be sent out. Long gone are the days when every one's wearing the same color shirt and khakis. Mix and match prints and bold colors, it's okay. Try to stick to a particular color pallet, but allow your family to express their individuality.

Mommas, I would suggest picking your outfit first, because the kids are going to look cute no matter what. Find what you feel fabulous in, and then coordinate the rest of the family's outfits to match (but not matchy-match). Feel me?

Do you have a family photographer yet? If not, contact me. Lucky for you, I'm in the biz. :)

Have fun, and stay fabulous!
P.S. This dress below is marked from almost $50 down to  $13.79 on asos.com! Seriously.

Gotta love promo codes!

I love Levi's. I have an exceptionally hard time finding jeans... whether they're too short or too long, too saggy in the butt or give me a muffin top. I struggle. Until I went to the Levi's store in San Francisco. I told the lady helping me exactly what I wanted in a pair of jeans, she sized me up and found them for me! The only problem for me was the price. Good thing I decided to hold up on buying them because I just bought them and with the help of the promo code below, I got them for 30% off! I love promo codes!

Sign up with levi.com to and every once a while they'll send you great deals.

Use promo code EXTRA30 at checkout to save an additional

Women's tees & knits - perfect-fit tees - Perfect-fit long-sleeve..., $25

I love the month of October. When I think of October, I think of fall which leads to me to think of sweaters, scarves, and being warm and cozy. If you noticed, I didn't include a pair of heels in this set. I absolutely love wearing heels. They make me feel so much like a lady. But let's face it, it's easier to run around with flats. So, instead of slipping on a pair of tennis shoes with this set, these shoes just looked so so comfy and they are adorable!
Just looking at this set makes me want to roll around in leaves. lol.
Enjoy! <3

Good News and Bad News

The good news is, I have discovered two masterpieces; beautifully sophisticated, modest, dresses. The bad news is, they are both sold out.

But wait-- I have more good news. There's a waiting list! So, all you have to do is leave ModCloth your e-mail, and they will notify you when restocked.

I love ModCloth.
And I really, really love these dresses.
What do you think?

Runways are Saying Goodbye to the Micro Mini...

...and hello to the Maxi. Designers have gone long for both day and night, turning out demure yet dramatic skirts that skim the upper shins (Marc Jacobs at both his own label and Louis Vuitton), graze the ankles (Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren), or fall gracefully somewhere in between.

These longer length dresses and skirts are commonly known as "Maxis". Maxi is short for maximum length, and I would say maximum comfort. The best part is, you can find them everywhere, from Target and Old Navy to Anthro and Urban Outfitters. I have chosen three of my faves from our beloved Forever 21, keeping it classy and keeping it cheap. Because let's face it, keeping our pennies is a must these days.

Tiered Maxi Skirt- $17.80
Lounge Wear Maxi Skirt- $11.80

Cozy Up For Fall in a Chunky Knit Sweater

Fall is in the air. As the weather cools down, you can warm up in a cozy knit sweater. Designers such as Georgio Armani are showing short or cropped chunky knit cardigans. I have selected a variety of my favorites (for those of us who can't afford Mr. Armani's) ranging from $6.50-$50.00.
For a casual look, you can wear a long cardigan with a pair of leggings and flats. Or, you can dress up a shorter knit, belted at the waist, with a skirt and tights or dress pants.
Happy shopping and stay fabulous!
